This degausser for High Coercivity Tape is designed to erase a broad range of magnetic media, including high density metal tapes and PC hard disk drives.

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) has approved this degausser for security erasure applications.

It is fast, taking as little as ten seconds to completely erase a cassette. It’s simple to use and provides a thoroughly effective and low cost means of degaussing DLT, DAT and other high coercivity tape.

Ds degausser



Compact and easy to use pulse discharge degausser



It is the most powerful compact continuous degausser for Hard Drive and Backup Tapes.
It uses state of the art pulse discharge technology to achieve a complete secure erasure.
Media that can be erased includes both Hard Drives that use Perpendicular and Longitudinal recording techniques up to 5000 Oersted’s and all common backup tapes.

Operation

This is a table top, chamber degausser, making operation safe, effective and simple for everyone. Operators simply slide the catch and the lid lifts up automatically. Place the media into the media compartment and close the lid. The erase cycle is started by pressing the ‘erase’ button on the control panel which activates the charging of the powerful degaussing magnetic field. When the display says the degauss cycle is complete the lid can be opened and the media removed. The entire process takes just 45 seconds.

Throughout the whole erase cycle the onboard processor monitors the erase procedure ensuring that it is completed correctly. The operator is immediately alerted to any interruptions in the cycle by messages on the LCD control panel.

Safe & Secure Operation

With safety in mind and to meet the latest ICNIRP Magnetic Exposure Guidelines, the field discharge duration is less than a second and the magnetic field is designed to be concentrated inside the chamber.

It is a fully automatic degausser for Hard Drives and Backup tapes. It uses pulse discharge technology and is fully processor controlled which enables it to offer a complete and secure erase on magnetic media. Media that can be degaussed includes Hard Drives that use both perpendicular and vertical recording techniques and most common backup tapes including DLT, LTO, 8mm, DDS and more.

Performance
It generates a powerful magnetic field and in less than a second completely erases the complete data from Hard Drives and Backup tapes. Its simple one pass fully automatic operation makes it ideal in businesses where security is of the utmost importance.

Operation
It is a fully automatic table top mounted unit. With the degausser powered up, the operator simply slides the hard drive into the aperture on the left hand side of the unit. The unit senses the presence of the media and the degauss cycle starts automatically. No operator action is required.

When the degauss cycle is complete, the hard drive is released and exits from the degausser on the right hand side. Throughout the entire degauss cycle the onboard processor monitors the procedure and progress messages are displayed on the LCD panel.

If the degauss cycle is interrupted for any reason such as power loss or any fault condition, the media is retained in the Degausser and the operator is immediately alerted to the interruption in the erasure cycle on the LCD panel.

To eject media when the cycle has failed for any reason the operator has to press the reset button. This releases the Hard Drive or Tape and resets the degauss cycle. The operator should then attempt a repeat erasure. The entire erasure process takes approximately 8 seconds.

2.5” notebook hard disk adapter


The 2.5” adapter supports UDMA 2.5″ laptop drives. It can be conveniently plugged in to the standard IDE connectors of the IDE hard disk duplicator. This allows 2.5″ drives to be copied to other 2.5″ drives or to 3.5″ desktop drives or vice versa.

Building a hot swap drive system using a Mobile Rack

To build a hot swap removable drive system, the power to the converter must be able to shut off when the Mobile Rack is turned off. This will trigger a message to the OS to dismount the drive. To implement this feature on any IDE Mobile Rack, be sure to use the special 2-pin to floppy power cable, that comes with the package, to connect the converter power to the small 2-pin output power on the back of the Drive Cradle (the tray that mounts inside the drive bay).

For Mobile Rack from other manufacturers, you need to wire the power cable from the converter to the 5V power inside the drive cradle. Contact your Mobile Rack supplier for the 5V power connection information.
